Our story

Why "Aspro"

Aspro is a family name. Our great-grandfather, Antonio Aspro, was a community leader in Gagliato, a small hill town in Calabria, in southern Italy.

In a town that small, everyone knew each other. Looking after the community meant looking after people, keeping promises and thinking about the next generation.

We named our company after him because that's how we want to run every business we take on. We're not here to flip what you built. We're here to look after it.

About us

A local family, not a fund

We're a husband-and-wife team based in Guelph, building Aspro & Co. into a group of local businesses we'll own for the long term. We're not a fund, there's no exit date, and we don't answer to outside investors.

One of us is a CPA with a career in finance and strategy. The offer you get is built properly, explained line by line, and backed by someone who reads financial statements for a living.

The other is an HR business partner with years at a large automotive manufacturer, working on the shop floor with machine operators every day. He leads on people: hiring and supporting your team, and working closely with the manager who runs the business day to day.

We live here and plan to stay. Your business stays local because we are local.

What we look for

Established local businesses

We're building a group of established local businesses, starting with one. Yours might fit if:

  • It's been around a long time. You've built it over decades and it has a reputation in the community.
  • It's a service business people rely on. The kind of everyday service your customers count on, year after year.
  • Customers come back. Much of your work is regular, repeat or under contract.
  • You have a team in place. Good people who know the work and the customers.
  • It's close to home. Anywhere in Wellington County, including Guelph.
  • You're thinking about what's next. Retirement, more time with family, or simply handing over to someone you trust.

Not sure if you fit? Reach out anyway. A conversation costs nothing.

Why Aspro & Co.

What makes us different

Most buyers promise to protect your legacy. Here's how we actually do it:

We show our math

You'll see exactly how we value your business, with the numbers behind it. No vague multiples, no mystery.

No surprise price cuts

Some buyers agree a price, then chip away at it late in the process. Our offer only changes if the business turns out to be different from what you told us, and we'll explain exactly why.

Promises in writing

Whatever we agree with you, about your name, your customers or your people, goes into the sale agreement, not just a handshake.

You stay involved, at your pace

No one knows your business like you do. We'll ask you to stay on for a handover period, and you can choose to stay longer as an advisor while you keep earning from the business.

How it works

Five simple steps

  1. A conversation

Coffee or a phone call. We get to know you and what you want for the future. No paperwork, no commitment.

  2. A closer look

If it feels like a fit, we sign a confidentiality agreement and you share some basic information.

  3. A clear offer

We walk you through our math. Flexible structures can spread out your tax and keep an income coming.

  4. Checking the details

Our accountant and lawyer review everything quietly, without disrupting your team or customers.

  5. A planned handover

We bring in the manager who'll run the day to day, and you introduce us to your team and customers.

You're in control the whole way. You can stop at any step.

Questions

Questions owners ask us

Will my employees find out I'm talking to you?

No. Every conversation is confidential. We never contact your staff, customers or suppliers without your permission, and we'll sign a confidentiality agreement before you share anything sensitive.

Do I have to go through a broker?

No. You can talk to us directly. If you already work with a broker, we're happy to work with them too.

I'm not ready to sell yet. Should I still reach out?

Yes. Many owners start talking to us a year or two before they want to step back. Planning early usually means a better result for you and your team.

Are you private equity?

No. We're a local family building a long-term group of Wellington County businesses. There's no fund deadline and no outside investors pushing us to cut costs or sell.

Who will run the business day to day?

A manager we hire and support. One of us works closely with them, especially in the first year, so your staff and customers always have an owner they can reach.

Will you sell my business later?

That's not our plan. We're buying to build a group of local businesses we own for the long term, and what we agree with you goes into the sale agreement.

What happens to my staff?

Good people who know the customers are the most valuable part of any business. We'll get to know your team before we close and talk openly with you about our plans for them. Anything we agree goes in writing.

How long will it take?

Every business is different, but most sales take a few months from the first serious conversation to closing. We'll move at a pace that works for you.

How do I get paid?

We'll talk through options together. Flexible structures can help you reduce or spread out your tax and keep income coming in after the sale.
